Wells' The War of the Worlds, the classic 1953 Byron Haskin science fiction (sci-fi) Martian extraterrestrial alien invasion action thriller ("From the ends of the universe... they are reaching for YOU!"; produced by George Pal; based on the classic novel by H.G. Wells; about seemingly unstoppable aliens invading the Earth) starring Gene Barry, Ann Robinson, Les Tremayne, Robert Cornthwaite, Lewis Martin, and Ann Codee NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that almost all collectors agree that the 1965 re-release posters from this classic movie have a far superior image to that of the original 1953 posters! In addition, this poster is MANY times more rare than the one-sheet from the first release (perhaps it only had a limited re-release in 1965). We have only auctioned one example of this poster in all our years of auctioning (it sold for $4,596), and that poster was not backed, and there is an excellent chance that it is the very same poster that we auctioned, except that it was linenbacked since we sold it, which means it would still be the only example of the poster we have ever auctioned!
UPDATED 06/06/2019: Note that we have updated the Condition information. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had two evenly spaced vertical folds and three horizontal folds. It had small paper loss in the top right blank corner and also tiny paper loss near the bottom left blank corner. Each side was folded over at one time and there are some tiny staple holes in those areas. Otherwise, it had the most minor of defects and was in "very good" condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was expertly backed, and will display wonderfully on the new owner's wall! Learn More about condition grades
