An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Chapter #2 (Le Tresor des Valois) French Large Movie Poster (31x47; measures 30 1/2" x 46" [77 x 117 cm]) (Learn More)

Belphegor, the 1927 Henri Desfontaines French silent Paris Louvre museum horror fantasy crime detective journalist mystery thriller serial (based on the novel by Arthur Bernede; about a mysterious phantom who appears at night in the famous French museum, The Louvre, in search of something!) starring Rene Navarre, Lucien Dalsace, Elmire Vautier (in the title role as Simone Desroches/Belphegor), Michele Verly, and Genica Missirio. Note that in 1965, there was a French TV mini-series based on this same novel, and it was highly acclaimed and created renewed interest in this silent serial (which can still be seen in its feature version, which is a massive 3 hours and 40 minutes long!).
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we received this French poster, which is a "country of origin" poster for this French movie! We are also currently auctioning a French poster from chapter 1 in a separate auction.

Note that this poster ships in a very long tube (at least 33" long, but possibly 50" long or more). Therefore the shipping for this poster will be more than that for a poster that ships in a tube 32" or shorter, and possibly much more. Please bear this added shipping expense in mind before bidding on this poster. You can tell how long of a tube this poster needs to ship in by looking at the shorter dimension of its length and width and then adding 4" to that (so a 47" x 63" poster will need to ship in a 51" long tube).

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds, with some small tears and tiny areas of paper loss on parts of some folds. It had some tears and small paper loss in the top of the image at left (perhaps there was a snipe over this area at one time). It had paper loss in the top right corner, extending into much of the "R". It had some scuffing scattered throughout the poster. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
