An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10 1/4" Movie Still (Learn More)

Der Blaue Engel (simultaneously released in the U.S. as "The Blue Angel", there were English language and German language versions), the classic 1930 Josef von Sternberg German tragic romantic musical melodrama (about a well respected college professor who falls for a night club singer, and she is thrilled to have such an illustrious suitor, but he throws his career away to marry her, with disastrous consequences; from the novel by Heinrich Mann) starring Emil Jannings (as Professor Immanuel Rath), Marlene Dietrich (as Lola Lola), Kurt Gerron, Rosa Valetti, Hans Albers, and Reinhold Bernt. Note that we do not know if there are any differences in the cast between the German language and the English language version (we know that most of the actors were German, but that they performed the English language version themselves in heavily accented English). If anyone knows of any differences between the two versions of this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Important Added Info: Note that there is information about the still printed on the back. It was on the back of the top and bottom of the still, and the still was once glued to an album page on the back of the borders, and the still was roughly removed, causing surface paper loss in the top and bottom of the back of the still, taking away from the writing at top and bottom. You can still read a large portion of what was on the bottom, including "Marlene Dietrich, the great Garbo's only really dangerous rival! Marlene is from Berlin, Germany, is blonde, tall and svelte. She speaks quite perfect English and French in a very metallic tone of voice, is highly cultured - all the contrary of the Swedish siren" and a little more!

Condition: good to very good. There are some faint scuffs scattered through the still, but fortunately, very few in Dietrich's face. There is slight discoloration in the top and right borders of the front of the still (caused by the glue that was once on the back), and there are small tears and creases in the bottom border, caused when the still was removed from the backing board it was glued to. There is surface paper loss on the back of the top and bottom borders, as was described above. Overall, the still has the above defects, but it still displays quite well and would look fantastic on anyone's wall!
