The Primrose Path, the 1940 Gregory La Cava trampy-girl-marries-decent-guy-and-he-learns-of-her-past romantic melodrama starring Ginger Rogers, Joel McCrea, Marjorie Rambeau (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Henry Travers, Miles Mander, Queenie Vassar, and Joan Carroll

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that in the 1930s and 1940s, movie studios made silk burgees (also called silk banners) for most major releases. These were printed on a silk (or silk-like) material, sometimes with a gold fringe at the bottom, and usually with an opening at the top through which a wooden pole could be inserted, usually with a rope attached to both ends of the pole, so that the burgee could be hung from a nail at the theater. Few silk burgees are known to survive (we have only auctioned a few dozen of them in our many years of auctioning, and most of those came from a single great find), and many collectors are not even aware of their existence!

Condition: good to very good. The banner has many small creases scattered throughout, with some scuffing in the faces of the stars, typical of silk banners of this period. There is light staining in the "MR" at the center of the title, with some slight scuffing scattered in the gold areas. There is staining at the bottom center around the "RKO PICTURE". Defects like these are extremely common in silk banners like this, and this one has survived in better condition than the vast majority of silk banners. It certainly can be displayed and enjoyed as it is (see our image).
