An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

The Dictator, the 1922 James Cruze silent romantic adventure melodrama ("From the play and novel by Richard Harding"; about a womanizer who follows a beautiful Hispanic woman to her home country in South America, and his adventures there; he ends up helping her father become dictator of the entire country, and he is rewarded with marriage to the girl and he is made Minister of Finance!) starring Wallace Reid, Theodore Kosloff, Lila Lee (billed as "Supported by Lila Lee"), Kalla Pasha, and Sidney Bracey. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.

Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this poster, and that was 29 years ago, when it sold for $935!

Note that this poster was folded oddly, and therefore will need to be sent in a larger than normal flat package that measures approximately 15" x 16". Please bear this in mind before bidding on this poster

UPDATED 05/18/2020: Note that we have updated the Condition information.


Condition: poor to fair. The poster has major defects, as clearly seen in our image. These include surface paper loss on Reid's sombrero, paper remnants glued to his nose and above the T in "Dictator" (perhaps from a snipe), and the back has light brown stains from exposure to moisture. In addition, it was folded oddly (see above). Obviously, it can be "rescued" through restoration, but bear all of this in mind before bidding on this rare poster.
