Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this 1939 "other company" half-sheet! We previously auctioned one example of the 1939 Paramount half-sheet, and that was 15 years ago, when it sold for $1,036, but we have never auctioned this poster before! This was printed by Associated Displays Corporation which was a company based in New York City. Before it was discovered by noted poster dealer/historian Walter Reuben, collectors did not know the name of this company (and thought it to be located in the Midwest), and it is often referred to as the "other company" (and we will continue to refer to it that way, since collectors know it that way). From 1936 to roughly 1941, this company printed its own one-sheets and lobby card sets (and a very few inserts, half-sheets, three-sheets, 40x60s and stills) for three major studio movies (Warner Brothers, Paramount and United Artists, but no other studios). The items almost always feature a tiny legal disclaimer and cast credits only. The posters and lobby cards are from the original release of the movie, and almost always have completely different artwork from the regular studio release. They did this by combining elements from different film scenes onto one poster or card. Sometimes, "other company" posters have images that are the equal of those from the regular studio release posters. Note finally that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Note that this poster was once folded, and if it can be refolded without damaging it or bringing back the creases, we are willing to do so, but because it is old and somewhat fragile, we would much prefer to send it in a large flat package, and we don't want to roll it, because that would have an excellent chance of damaging it. We will only send it rolled if the new owner accepts responsibility if it is damaged from being rolled. Please bear all this in mind before placing your bid on this rare poster.

Condition: good to very good. The poster has some creases and scuff marks scattered in various areas of the art (pretty typical of "other company" posters with a silkscreen-style art like this). There is some slight discoloration around the center crossfold and in the center left edge and there are some tiny brown dot stains at lower center. After paperbacking the poster would display well, but see our super-sized image and bear in mind its defects before placing a bid.
