Mandrake the Magician was a syndicated newspaper comic strip created by Lee Falk in 1934. The strip was distributed by King Features Syndicate. Mandrake is regarded by comics historians as one of the first superhero of comics. The Sunday newspaper Mandrake strip ended in 2002, and the daily newspaper strip ended in 2013. Over the years, Mandrake has also been published in various comic books around the world. Other media includes radio programs, a 1939 Columbia serial starring Warren Hull, and animated TV shows.
Artist: Fred Fredericks
Important Added Info: Note that our consignor was a major collector of serial and western lobby cards in the 1960s and 1970s, and he also loved the comic strips that the serials were based on. He became friendly with artist Fred Fredericks and obtained this original Sunday strip from him, and also another Sunday page. In addition, he obtained a daily strip that Mr. Fredericks added a long inscription to and signed. We are also currently auctioning all three Mandrake the Magician originals in three separate auctions.

Also note that while this could conceivably be rolled, we will send it in a very large flat package that measures 19" x 25". Please bear that extra shipping cost in mind BEFORE placing a bid on this!

Condition: very good. We have photographed the front and back of the art so you can clearly see its condition.
