An Original 1955 (from the first release of this movie in France) Vintage Theatrical Folded French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures 47 1/4" x 63 1/4" [120 x 161 cm]) (Learn More) Garden of Eden, the 1954 Max Nosseck Florida nudist camp family relationship melodrama ("Photographed in COLOR at a REAL Nudist Park under the supervision and with the approval of AMERICAN SUNBATHING ASSOCIATION"; "Photographed by Boris Kaufman, Winner of the Academy Award for photography 'On the Waterfront'"; a standard melodrama about a mother leaving her husband and taking her young daughter with her, but they added in the mother visiting a nudist camp!) starring Mickey Knox, Jamie O'Hara (billed as "introducing Jamie O'Hara"), R.G. Armstrong, Karen Sue Trent, and John Gude. Note that nudism had been an American fad in the 1930s, but had greatly diminished by the 1950s. But a clever filmmaker saw this as an opportunity to draw in crowds who would come to see the naked people, and this was one of the first of the "nudies" that became so prevalent in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Also note that when this movie was being filmed, cinematographer Boris Kaufman had only photographed short subjects, and he wanted to shoot features, so he took this job. That same year, he shot the classic "On the Waterfront", which led to a major career in cinematography, but he will always have this early nudie feature on his resume! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have previously auctioned U.S. posters for this movie, and a British quad that has silhouette art, but we have never previously auctioned any posters from any other country until we were consigned this French one-panel! Also note that this item contains some nudity, so we have placed a white bar over those areas for those who are bothered by such images. Of course, the actual item does not have the white bars. Condition: good to very good. The poster has darkening and separation on parts of some folds. After a relatively simple linenbacking, the poster will look great! Learn More about condition grades
