An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Campaign Book (measures 9 1/2" x 12 1/4" [24 x 31 cm]; 52 pages) (Learn More)

PDC 1925-26, the 1925 PDC (Producers Distributor Corporation) campaign book, featuring images and information about upcoming PDC movies, directors, and stars including: Leatrice Joy, Rod La Rocque, Priscilla Dean, Harry Carey Sr., Hunt Stromberg, Francis Marion, and many more. PDC was a company that operated from 1924 to 1927, and its main asset was director/producer Cecil B. DeMille, who brought with him many stars and directors he had worked with. But PDC never "took off", and in 1927, RCA was moving into motion pictures, and so was KAO, which was a theater circuit. In mid 1927, KAO acquired PDC and Pathe Exchange (the U.S. branch of France's Pathe Films). In 1928, RCA merged with KAO and formed Radio-Keith-Orpheum, which was abbreviated RKO. They kept Pathe separate from RKO for the time being. In 1929, Radio Pictures was created, and RKO began to absorb what remained of Pathe, and by the beginning of 1931, Pathe was not separate anymore. But what about PDC? Its assets were merged into RKO, but the name was still owned by RKO, and there was a brief attempt to revive it in 1931, but that never happened, and it joined the many, many studios that existed for a short while and then vanished!

Condition: fair to good. 52 pages are present, but there are definitely at least 4 missing pages, because the pages near the center of the book are loose, and there is only half of an ad for a movie that is missing its facing page, so we know at least 4 pages at the center are missing. Update: A knowledgeable collector tells us that he has the complete book, and it has 60 pages. So please know that 8 pages are missing from this book.
