An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

The Star Packer, the 1934 Robert N. Bradbury (billed as "R.N. Bradbury") cowboy western ("A whirlwind of action in a tornado of trouble! - The sensational western star shows the bad men of the West what fightin' means.") starring John Wayne, Verna Hillie, George 'Gabby' Hayes, Yakima Canutt, and Billy Franey. Note that John Wayne's horse in his First National movies was "Duke", but when he switched to Lone Star, his horse was "Starlight" (but unlike Duke, Starlight was not credited).

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that first release posters and lobby cards from this early John Wayne movie he made while at Lone Star Western are unbelievably rare! In all our years of auctioning, we have never auctioned a single first release lobby card or still, and the only first release poster we auctioned was a different example of this one, which was in our special 2004 John Wayne auction, and that poster had been used as a drop cloth while painting and was then linenbacked. This example of the poster is in much better condition! The movie was quickly re-released in the late 1930s, and we have only auctioned two lobby cards and a one-sheet from that release. This poster is incredibly rare, and has a wonderful image of young John Wayne!

Condition: good to very good. The poster had some pinholes and stains around the edges. It had small paper loss in the top corners and in the center of three borders. It must have made its way to Germany in the 1930s, and someone there took pieces of a German newspaper and glued it to the back of those areas, basically just to reinforce them. This was done many, many years ago, and otherwise, no attempts at restoration were made. The poster is otherwise in pretty nice condition (see our image), and after a simple linenbacking by a talented restorer, it will look incredible!
