Auction History Result 262 TARZAN OF THE APES linen 1sheet Date Sold: 6/24/2000Appears in: Vintage Hollywood Posters 3 Sold For: $12,650.00 one-sheet (Learn More) Tarzan of the Apes, the 1918 Scott Sidney silent action adventure thriller starring Elmo Lincoln (as the screen's first Tarzan), Enid Markey (as the screen's first Jane), True Boardman, and Kathleen Kirkham. Note that this classic book had been written four years earlier, but that it took four years for Hollywood to figure out how to film this book (in those pre-special effects days they were unsure of how to have the apes, which do lots of talking in the book). Elmo Lincoln reprised his role as Tarzan in "The Return of Tarzan". Note that he is normally referred to as the very first screen Tarzan, but actually it is the actor who played Tarzan as a boy in this movie who deserves that distinction! Condition: very good to fine.
