If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was printed by the "Globe Poster Corp." of Chicago. In the 1930s, a constant headache for theaters was being sure of having movie posters for their current releases. Often, the posters would travel with the actual film prints, and sometimes the theater before them might have forgotten to include the poster, it might have been defaced or torn, etc. If a theater didn't have posters, it was very frustrating! Several companies began in the 1930s (Leader Press, the "other company", Woolever Press, The Globe Poster Corp., etc) that made posters of their own for new releases, and they would provide a back up for theaters in case they didn't get a studio issued poster. In the case of this company, they also made jumbo window cards! It is an absolute fact that posters from these companies are far more rare than the regular studio issued posters. It is also a certainty that these posters were issued when the movies were first released (this poster has "SAT. NOV. 7" on it, which fell in 1936). Note that 1936 posters from this classic comedy are nearly impossible to obtain and cost a fortune! This Globe Poster Corp. jumbo window card may well be the only affordable way for someone to get a first release poster from this movie! Also note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 21" x 28" [53 x 71 cm]. Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. If it is a size that might ordinarily be rolled in a tube (like a half-sheet), the reason it is in this auction is specifically because we feel it either CAN'T be rolled or because we feel it would be a mistake to roll it, because it might well damage the item. In the case of the few items that could be rolled, we will roll the item in a tube if the new owner insists, but only if they accept that they can't return the item if it is damaged from being rolled. So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it. Condition: fair. The poster was trimmed on the right border. There are nail holes and some paper loss around the edges, with a few tears, and a 7" tear in the left border, extending into the "POW" of "POWELL". There are some dot stains scattered throughout the poster (see our image). Learn More about condition grades
