A Vintage Hardcover Book (measures 4 1/2" x 5 1/4" [11 x 13 cm]; 150 pages) (Learn More) The Return of Chandu (The Magician), the 1934 Ray Taylor black magic fantasy horror serial sequel ("He's back! The Master of Magic and Thrills"; "with a Distinguished Cast") starring Bela Lugosi (in the title role as Chandu), Maria Alba, Murdock MacQuarrie, Phyllis Ludwig, and Clara Kimball Young. Note that Chandu the Magician was a radio show that started airing in Los Angeles in 1931, and went nationwide the following year. That was also when a movie adaptation, called Chandu the Magician, was made. Two years later, this sequel, The Return of Chandu, was made, and this time, Bela Lugosi played the lead role, after having a supporting role in the prequel. The show went off the air in 1936. It was revived in 1948 as a 15 minute show and ran for two years. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that in the 1930s, The Saalfield Publishing Company published "Little Big Books", which were similar to Whitman Publishing's "Big Little Books", and "Better Little Books". All of these were tiny books that each had an image on one side and text on the other. They were mostly aimed at children and teenagers, and often were adapted from comic strips, comic books, movies, etc. Also note that we have pictured the front cover, the title page, and the interior page that shows the publishing information, and one or more interior 2-page spreads, which should greatly help you judge the condition of this book.
