Important Added Info: Note that this window card, which was one of three examples of this poster that were found many years ago, was first auctioned by us in 2012. It has now been re-consigned to us by the person who purchased it then, so it is still one of those three examples, but we are auctioning it for a second time. This example had paper loss in the upper left that extended into the image background, and it had a 1" strip of darkening at a slight diagonal across the bottom of the top blank area that extended into the "Carl Laemmle presents", the very top of the "H.G. Wells'", and the background above those words. There was a thin oval of surface paper loss in the top center of the image, with a tiny area of paper loss in the bottom of that oval. Otherwise, the poster was in pretty nice condition when it was found. To see an image of the poster prior to restoration, click HERE. Note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a heavy paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards.

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. Prior to paperbacking, the window card had paper loss in the upper left that extended into the image background, and it had a 1" strip of darkening at a slight diagonal across the bottom of the top blank area that extended into the "Carl Laemmle presents", the very top of the "H.G. Wells'", and the background above those words. There was a thin oval of surface paper loss in the top center of the image, with a tiny area of paper loss in the bottom of that oval. Otherwise, the poster was in pretty nice condition prior to paperbacking. The poster was nicely backed by Precision Restoration in California, and the restorer recreated the missing area described above and also removed the light darkening described above, and it displays really well (I would think most people would not recognize the restoration that was done, even standing next to the poster)!
