An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 41" x 81" [104 x 206 cm]) (Learn More) Panther Girl of the Kongo, the 1955 Franklin Adreon Africa Congo science fiction (sci-fi) jungle action serial ("Horror stalks the jungle!"; "Man-made monsters terrify the jungle"; "Strange monsters invade the jungle!"; "The most exciting serial ever filmed!"; "A Republic Serial in 12 Chapters"; "Written by Ronald Davidson") starring Phyllis Coates (in the title role as the Panther Girl), Myron Healey, Arthur Space, John Daheim (billed as "John Day"), Mike Ragan, and Steve Calvert (in an uncredited role as the man in the gorilla suit). Note that in 1948, Steve Calvert bought Ray 'Crash' Corrigan's gorilla costume, which Corrigan had been using in movies since at least 1932. He appeared in 12 movies between 1948 and 1958 as a gorilla wearing Corrigan's costume! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at some crossfolds and minor wear on some folds. It had a 3" vertical line of brown staining in the right of the bottom credits area. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
