A Linenbacked French Museum Exhibition Poster (measures 47 3/4" x 63" [121 x 160 cm]) (Learn More)

The Monnaie de Paris (Paris Mint) is a government-owned institution responsible for producing France's euro coins. Founded in 864 AD, it is the world's oldest continuously-running minting institution. It operates from two sites, one in Paris and one in Pessac. In Paris, it operates from the Hotel de la Monnaie, which was designed by Jacques-Denis Antoine and built from 1767 to 1775 on the Left Bank of the Seine. It remains open to the public and includes a numismatics museum, located within what was once the main foundry.
Artist: Roger Excoffon
Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this poster!

Note that this poster ships in a very long tube (at least 33" long, but possibly 50" long or more). Therefore the shipping for this poster will be more than that for a poster that ships in a tube 32" or shorter, and possibly much more. Please bear this added shipping expense in mind before bidding on this poster. You can tell how long of a tube this poster needs to ship in by looking at the shorter dimension of its length and width and then adding 4" to that (so a 47" x 63" poster will need to ship in a 51" long tube).
What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It had a few creases, small scuffs, and tiny dot stains around the edges in the white areas. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Also, the poster was roughly handled after it was backed, and there are now many tears scattered down the left and right, but solely in the excess linen, so it does not affect the poster (and that area could easily be trimmed off).
