An Original Vintage Unfolded Personality Poster (measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More)

Always in the Way, the 1915 J. Searle Dawley silent relationship melodrama ("A picturization of the famous song classic"; "Five acts of sentiment and thrills"; "An all star cast") starring Mary Miles Minter, Ethelmary Oakland, Lowell Sherman, Edna Holland, and Mabel Greene. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this is a "personality poster". Personality Posters were created in the 1910s, 1920s, 1930s, and early 1940s. All of the major studios created sets of these that usually measured exactly 22" x 28". Most often they were taller than they were wide, but occasionally they would be horizontal. It is interesting to note that the image on these posters is often very close to actual life-size! While at least several hundred different special personality posters were made between the 1910s and early 1940s, few are known to have survived, as few theaters ordered them, and fewer still saved them! Note that almost all of these personality posters did not have names of specific movies on them. Sometimes, however, in the 1910s studios would put the name of the star's current movie in the bottom of the poster. We imagine they surely stopped doing this when they realized that theaters would no longer display the poster after they stopped showing the current movie! This poster has the name of a specific movie so we are listing it under that movie title rather than under the star's name.

Condition: fair. There is an 8" tear in the lower left and a 6" tear in the top border. There are stains, tears and paper loss around the edges of the poster, but they are mostly in the blank borders. There is surface paper loss in one of Minter's eyebrows, touching her hair. There is tiny surface paper loss in her dress and in the top right background area. Obviously this poster has very real defects, so bear that in mind before placing a bid on it.
