An Original Vintage Courviosier Gallery Movie Animation Cel (actual cel measures 5 1/2" x 7"; mat measures 11 7/8" x 15"; frame measures 12 5/8" x 15 5/8") (Learn More)

Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the classic 1937 David Hand Walt Disney animated animation family romantic fairy-tale fantasy musical cartoon ("His first full length feature production"; "In the Marvelous Multiplane Technicolor"; "Behold The Miracle of the Movies! Coming to amaze you, charm you, thrill you!"; "With Eight new songs as catching as 'The Big Bad Wolf.'"; "To thrill you"; "Merriment!"; "Melody!"; "Magic!"; "The dwarfs sing their marching song on the way to work."; "Walt Disney's first full length feature production"; "The show sensation of the generation!"; "Wondrously filmed in all the glories of the marvelous multiplane Technicolor"; "The Screen's Supreme Thrill! 1,000 artists worked three years to give you this once-in-a-lifetime show!... A full hour and a half of the most enthralling entertainment you ever experienced... truly the miracle in motion pictures!") featuring the voices of Adriana Caselotti (in the title role as Snow White), Harry Stockwell (as the Prince), Lucille La Verne, Moroni Olsen, and Stuart Buchanan. Note that this movie is always referred to as a "1937" movie, but it actually only had a limited opening in December 1937 (no doubt to qualify for the Oscars), and then it had its wide opening in February 1938. But because it is always referred to as being from 1937, we refer to it that way as well (and of course, it is technically correct).

Important Added Info: Note that our consignor purchased this great cel of Sleepy from "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" many years ago, and was given the following information about it at the time: he was told that the cel was purchased from the Courvoisier Gallery in San Francisco, and that it is in the original frame and mat that the gallery sold it in. The cel was taped to the back of a mat, and there is a small sticker on the back of the cel that reads "This Material Inflammable HANDLE WITH CARE Frame Under Glass Copyright 1937 WALT DISNEY ENTERPRISES". There is a blue pencil "83" to the right of that sticker, and a grey pencil "#4" on the back of the bottom of the mat. The name "Sleepy" is written in tiny letters on the front of the mat at the bottom left of the cel. The frame has a piece of glass and a white paper mat that was placed over the original mat (likely because the original mat had darkened slightly and had some minor stains around the edges. There is a cardboard backing that was both nailed and taped to the back of the frame, and there is a small tag which was taped to the back of the cardboard on the back of the frame, which reads "Original Work From SNOW WHITE and THE SEVEN DWARFS", and obviously, this piece of paper was cut from the back of the original mat, where it originally was under the sticker described above (you can clearly see where it was removed from in our image). Note that we will package the cel and mat in one box, and the frame and glass in another, and send them either separately or in one large box, so that there is no change that the frame or glass could damage the cel itself.

Condition: very good to fine. We are no experts on animation cels, but it seems to us that the cel has survived quite nicely over the years!
