Note that this was MGM's first "talking" movie, and they billed it as "A great talking picture!", but actually, the picture is 90% silent, with just a few inserted talking sequences!. Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving complete copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Roger Chapalet Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare pre-World War II French poster! Virtually no French posters survive from before, during, or right after World War II. Apparently there were many paper shortages in France during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters! We have never before auctioned this poster. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Note that this poster ships in a very long tube (at least 33" long, but possibly 50" long or more). Therefore the shipping for this poster will be more than that for a poster that ships in a tube 32" or shorter, and possibly much more. Please bear this added shipping expense in mind before bidding on this poster. You can tell how long of a tube this poster needs to ship in by looking at the shorter dimension of its length and width and then adding 4" to that (so a 47" x 63" poster will need to ship in a 51" long tube). Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had small paper loss at some crossfolds and some tiny tears, scuffs, darkening, and tiny paper loss on parts of most folds. It had some scuffs in the solid black areas. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. It also was slightly roughly handled after it was backed, and it acquired a few scuffs after it was backed. Learn More about condition grades
