A Lot of 18 Auction Catalogs (each measures from 8" x 10" to 8 1/4" x 10 1/2") (Learn More)

a lot of 18 Christie's animation auction catalogs dating from June 1986, November 1986, June 1987, June 1988, November 1988, May 1989, November 1990, June 1991, December 1991, December 1992, April 1993, June 1993, December 1993, June 1994, December 1994, June 1995, December 1996, and December 1997. Note that the modern animation collecting hobby started in 1984 when they held an auction of the collection of Disney animator John Basmajian ("they were sold in a landmark auction held by Christie's East in New York; the success of the auction firmly established universal recognition and a new consciousness that vintage animation art, particularly that of Disney, is a true and pure form of American fine art; since the historic Basmajian-Christie's auction, this fragile, delicate, and beautiful artwork has been highly prized and lovingly sought after by large numbers of people from all over the world"). This collection does not include THAT catalog, but it includes most of the Christie's auction catalogs from 1986 to 1997, which really covers half of the "golden age" of animation collecting (throughout those years, there were also auctions at Sotheby's, and we are auctioning a collection of those catalogs in a separate auction!).

Condition: very good. Most of the catalogs have some handling wear, as our consignor was an animation collector through those years, and these were his personal copies. A few of them have notes that the collector made at the time, but most are unused.
