A 1962 Re-release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Italian One-Panel Movie Poster (measures approximately 39" x 55") (Learn More)

Casablanca, the classic 1942 Michael Curtiz (winner of the Best Director Academy Award for this film) anti-Nazi World War II (WWII) romantic love triangle melodrama ("From a play by Murray Burnett and June Alison"; winner of the Best Picture Academy Award; it is interesting to note that the movie was made while World War II was being fought, and at a point when it seemed very real that Germany might take over the entire world, and in that context, the strong emotions expressed throughout the movie are all the more poignant, given what was going on in the world at that time) starring Humphrey Bogart (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as "Rick", Richard Blaine), Ingrid Bergman (as Ilsa Lund), Paul Henreid (as Victor Laszlo), Claude Rains (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; as Captain Renault), Conrad Veidt (as Major Strasser), Sydney Greenstreet (as Signor Ferrari), Peter Lorre (as Ugarte), S.Z. Sakall (as Carl), Dooley Wilson (as Sam), Madeleine LeBeau (as Yvonne), Leonid Kinskey (as Sascha), John Qualen (as Berger), Marcel Dalio (as Emil, the croupier at the roulette wheel), Corinna Mura (as the cabaret singer who plays the guitar and sings "La Marseillaise"), Helmut Dantine (as the young man playing roulette), and Joy Page (as Dantine's girlfriend, who is willing to sleep with Rains)

Important Added Info: Note that since this re-release poster is from 1962, one might think that it is relatively easy to find. But in actuality, I have never seen or heard of this poster before! This great image may seem familiar to some of you, but that is because there was a Turkish reproduction of this poster in the 1990s (but it was reduced down to a one-sheet size). I have seen photobustas from this 1962 re-release (which have the same unusual title lettering, but merely contain photos from the movie), but never this one-panel, and in my opinion, it has one of the absolute finest Casablanca images ever created! Note that this re-release occurred 20 years after the first release of the movie, but that it has been 43 years since this re-release! Also note that this Italian one-panel measures approximately 39" x 55" and is linenbacked.

Condition: very good to fine. The poster had tiny paper loss in the vertical foldline near the middle of Bergman's cheek (the cheek closest to Bogart's head) and there were a few minute areas of paper loss down the vertical foldline. There was only very minor wear on the horizontal foldlines. There were several areas of paper loss in the bottom 14" of the left blank border and in the top 14" of the left blank border and some paper loss in the top 14" of the right blank border and a small area of paper loss near the bottom of the right blank border, but every bit of the above paper loss was solely blank white paper. The image area of the poster and only the tiny defects described above. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was really expertly backed. The tiny touch up in the image area was expertly performed, and is not at all noticeable, and the missing paper in the blank borders was really expertly replaced and is not at all noticeable. I can't imagine any movie poster collector (or movie fan for that matter!) not wanting to display this great poster on their wall!
