An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) Madame Tallien (released in the U.S. in 1918 as "The Birth of Democracy" and released in England in 1924 as "Madame Guillotine"), the 1916 Italian silent war historical short melodrama ("An astounding spectacle of intense dramatic power"; "Over 5000 people in the cast"; about the French Revolution in 1789, and the "birth of democracy" in France at that time) starring Lyda Borelli, Renzo Fabiani, Amleto Novelli, Ettore Baccani, Ruggero Barni, Orlando Ricci, and Roberto Spiombi. Note that a knowledgeable collector tells us that "this Italian movie was falsely promoted as a 'Franco-American' production at the time, in order to disguise the fact that it was from an enemy nation during World War One!" Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see! Condition: fair to good. There is a vertical crack down the center of the back pane, but it is not that noticeable from the front, and otherwise, the slide is in nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
