An Original Vintage Theatrical Kraftbacked Style D One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Panama Hattie, the 1942 Norman Z. McLeod south-of-the-border Navy military sailor romantic musical comedy ("Broadway's famed musical on the screen!"; "Based on the play by Herbert Fields, & B.G DeSylva"; "with Music and Lyrics by Cole Porter") starring Red Skelton ("He Dood It Again!"), Ann Sothern (in the title role as Hattie Maloney), 'Rags' Ragland, Ben Blue, Marsha Hunt, Virginia O'Brien, Alan Mowbray, Dan Dailey (in an early role, billed as "Dan Dailey Jr."), Jackie Horner, Lena Horne (as herself, in a cameo role), and Carmen Amaya. Note that the play this movie was based on opened on Broadway in 1940 and ran for over 500 performances. It starred Ethel Merman (who played the title role) and Betty Hutton, but both actresses were not given the chance to play their parts in the movie version! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: This poster has been kraftbacked, which means it was backed onto a brown paper soon after it was printed (this process is called "kraft-backing", and posters with it are called "kraft-backed"). They folded it once horizontally and twice vertically, but did not fold it again, so we will send the poster in a larger flat package (similar to that used for window cards), because we don't want to add in the extra fold. One could have it professionally removed from the kraft paper and linenbacked, and it would look great! Condition: good. The poster had creases, scuffs, and some stains scattered on the foldlines, with some paper loss at the crossfolds. There was paper loss in the "U" of "BLUE" in the credits, and a tear and paper loss in the background next to the blue box. It had been folded in half an extra time and someone kraftbacked the poster . They folded it once horizontally and twice vertically, but did not fold it again, so we will send the poster in a larger flat package (similar to that used for window cards), because we don't want to add in the extra fold.
