A Framed Autographed Advertising Poster (entire display measures 11" x 14 1/4") (Learn More)

Mark Twain's Tom Sawyer, the 1973 Don Taylor musical family adventure (based on the classic novel by Mark Twain; "Reader's Digest presents a Musical Adaptation of Mark Twain's Tom Sawyer") starring Johnny Whitaker (in the title role as Tom Sawyer), Celeste Holm (as Aunt Polly), Jeff East (as Huckleberry Finn), Warren Oates (as Muff Potter), and Jodie Foster (eleven years old, and in her third movie role, after a number of TV show appearances; as Becky Thatcher)

Important Added Info: Note that among the 55 people who signed this is 11 year old Jodie Foster, who wrote "Best Wishes, Jodie Foster 'Becky'". We would think it is extremely difficult to find autographs she signed at this young age that are surely authentic! Also note that this item has been personally autographed (signed) by FIFTY-FIVE different people: Jodie Foster, John Whitaker, director Don Taylor, Frank Capra Jr., Celeste Holm, Lucille Benson, John Inzerella, Dub Taylor, Clayton Haines, Mickey Sherrard, Thelma Whitaker, Sherrie Whitaker, David Dennison, Kay Storm, Kitty Smith, Jim Smith, Warren Oates, N.C. Schultz, Mildred Herman, Jim Smith, Donna Huston, Henry Jones, Ron Wright, Sandy Kenyon, Mary Burge, Mary Hogge, Tom Butterfield, and there are 28 other signatures we did not identify (a little research would likely determine who most of those are). We are not sure exactly what this poster was created for, but it is 11" x 14" on a heavy board (likely it was originally on the board). It may have been something used to collect autographs, because it has some information printed about the movie and an image of Mark Twain, and lots of blank area, which obviously was great for adding autographs. Our consignor was in the movie business when this movie came out and he is no longer with us, but he surely attended an event for the opening of this movie where he obtained all these autographs. There is no certificate of authenticity, but we feel certain they are authentic. Also, this will need to be shipped in an oversized box by itself with lots of padding to prevent it being damaged in transit. Please bear in mind this added cost before bidding on this item. HOWEVER, the winning bidder could also choose to have us discard the frame and simply send the signed poster, which would greatly lower the shipping costs, and we will do so upon request.

As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.

Condition: good to very good. The item is mounted on a heavy board (and we think it was created that way). It has wear around the edges. It is in a standard 11" x 14" frame, and it might make sense to discard it, since shipping it in the frame would make it more expensive and more easy to damage. We will leave it to the winning bidder to decide if they want to keep the frame or not.
