An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More)

a local theater window card from the Federal Theatre in Salem, Massachusetts advertising what they were showing in the week of November 15 to 21, 1928: Excess Baggage, the 1928 James Cruze Hollywood California acting circus romantic love triangle comedy (from the play by John Wesley McGowan; about a high-wire actobat who falls in love and marries a would-be actress, but she becomes famous and becomes a star, and has an affair, which causes her husband to lose his nerves and fall from the high wire, and his wife realizes the mistake she has made and returns to him) starring William Haines, Josephine Dunn, Neely Edwards, Kathleen Clifford, and Greta Granstedt. Note that while this was a silent movie, it was released with a synchronized score and sound effects. AND The Docks of New York, the 1928 Josef von Sternberg New York City waterfront sailor romantic melodrama (about a rough ship worker on leave in New York City who saves a girl from committing suicide, and because he is drunk and caught up in the moment, he marries her, but when he sobers up, he prepares to return to his ship, perhaps abandoning her; some consider this Josef von Sternberg's best movie!) starring George Bancroft, Betty Compson, Gustav von Seyffertitz, Lillian Worth, Guy Oliver, Mitchell Lewis, May Foster, Clyde Cook, and Olga Baclanova (billed as "Baclanova")
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded.

Condition: very good.
