What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. The poster had several extra folds, with many tears and areas of paper loss along many of the folds. It had a diagonal tear running through the center of the woman's face and into the top left of her dress. It also had scattered vertical tears in the lower part of her dress and in the bottom center of the image. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Obviously, one would prefer to find a better condition example of this poster, but given that it is over 110 years-old, it might be a long wait!
