An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Presskit (measures 9" x 12" [23 x 30 cm]; contains 11 supplements, and 10 stills) (Learn More)

Star Trek: The Motion Picture, the 1979 Robert Wise futuristic science fiction (sci-fi) outer space adventure thriller ("The Human Adventure Is Just Beginning."; "There Is No Comparison."; "The Motion Picture"; "Story by Alan Dean Foster"; "Screenplay by Harold Livingston") starring William Shatner (as Captain James T. Kirk), Leonard Nimoy (as Mr. Spock), DeForest Kelley (as Dr. "Bones" McCoy), James Doohan (as Commander Montgomery "Scotty" Scott), George Takei (as Lieutenant Commander Hikaru Sulu), Walter Koenig (as Chekov), Nichelle Nichols (as Lieutenant Commander Uhura), Majel Barrett, Persis Khambatta (billed as "presenting Persis Khambatta"), Stephen Collins ("as Lt. Willard Decker"; "as Decker"), and Grace Lee Whitney. Note that the Star Trek TV show went off the air in 1969, with a cult following, but without a lot of general success. But there was enough interest built up over the following years that this movie was made in 1979. Three years later, Nicholas Meyer wrote and directed a sequel, "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan", which was a giant critical and commercial success, and led to all the many sequels and spin-offs in the years since!

Artist: Bob Peak
Important Added Info: Note that this is a very unusual special presskit. It has an elaborate cover, which has two die-cut flaps on the side, and the cover fits over them and attaches to the bottom of the inside with Velcro! Inside, there are 11 supplements about the movie, including a blue bound magazine-like supplement with biographies of all the stars (this supplement is not pictured, nor are any of the other ten supplements), plus it contains 10 stills from the movie and a copy of the movie tie-in paperback. Most surprising, an example of the advance one-sheet is included as well (it was folded an extra time and inserted into the presskit folder, along with all the other material). There are color images on the cover of the presskit, with the Bob Peak artwork on the inside cover, and a great close up portrait of the cast and a montage of other images on the interior flaps (see our image). This is a special deluxe presskit that was likely sent to larger theaters (we have also seen a more normal "regular" presskit that was likely sent to regular theaters. REMEMBER TO LOOK AT THE TOP OF THIS AUCTION TO SEE HOW MANY STILLS ARE INCLUDED WITH THIS PRESSKIT, BECAUSE WE NEVER PICTURE MORE THAN EIGHT OF THEM (and we pretty much picked eight stills at random).

Condition: very good. The presskit folder has wear around the edges, but all the contents are in pretty nice condition (see our images). Many of the presskits we are auctioning this week were carefully stored away for many years, and the stills are in really excellent condition. Sometimes the folder that contains the stills has some minor wear on it, and you should be able to see that in our super-sized image.
