A Linenbacked French Advertising Poster (measures 46" x 62" [117 x 157 cm]) (Learn More) Fap'Anis, the circa 1920s French advertising poster promoting an anise-flavored Pastis aperitif liquor (the creation of Pastis was in response to the banning of absinth in 1915), and featuring art of a sexy flapper enjoying the drink. Note that this is a mysterious poster! The woman depicted is French singer and actress Gaby Deslys, who was extremely popular throughout the world in the 1910s. However, some suggest that this poster was part of a hoax perpetuated by a group of humorists, and Fap'Anis never existed. Artist: Delval Important Added Info: Note that this poster ships in a very long tube (at least 33" long, but possibly 50" long or more). Therefore the shipping for this poster will be more than that for a poster that ships in a tube 32" or shorter, and possibly much more. Please bear this added shipping expense in mind before bidding on this poster. You can tell how long of a tube this poster needs to ship in by looking at the shorter dimension of its length and width and then adding 4" to that (so a 47" x 63" poster will need to ship in a 51" long tube).What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had uneven tears in the top right blue background and minor wear on the folds and in the borders. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was backed onto a somewhat thin linen, and unfortunately, the restorer did not use the correct glue, because the poster is "lifting" from the linen in a number of places, and it also has some creases scattered in places due to the above defect.
