An Original Vintage Linenbacked Special World War II Propaganda Poster (measures 27 3/4" x 40") (Learn More)

More Production!, the 1942 U.S. World War II (WWII) Home Front production posters ("He's a fighting fool give him the best you've got"; "She's a swell plane - give us more!"; "Kinda give it your personal attention, will you?"; "You knock'em out - we'll knock'em down") produced by the U.S. Government Printing Office/War Production Board. There was a series of posters produced at the same time, each of which have the same title, but all of which have different images and taglines. They were designed to encourage those working in the United States to increase productivity, so that the military would not run out of much needed supplies, especially ammunition and weapons!
Artist: Robert Riggs

Condition: good. The poster was mounted on to a thin linen and then folded in the usual way. Prior to that mounting, the poster had been folded an extra time and there were many stains and smudges throughout the poster, although they are most noticeable in the background areas. There are two small areas of paper loss in the man's face, one in his upper lip and one in his chin. I do not know how difficult or expensive it would be to have this poster re-backed, because it would depend greatly on whether or not the stains in the poster can be removed through chemical means, or if they have to be painted over. Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept its many defects, or are willing to pay to have it restored!

This poster was linenbacked, and it had significant defects which were only somewhat repaired during the linenbacking process, or were not repaired at all (we describe both the defects as well as the quality of the restoration below, and based on those comments, you can easily determine which type of poster it is). You should also look at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!).
