An Original Vintage Tri-Folded Half Subway Radio Poster (measures approximately 30" x 45") (Learn More)

WNEW AM 1130, the circa 1980s radio poster ("Blessed with America's Best") featuring artwork of Mel Torme, the legendary singer who was nicknamed "The Velvet Fog". WNEW was founded in 1934 and was known for its popular adult music selection as well as its staff of radio personalities. In 1935, WNEW pioneered the concept of a disc jockey when staff announcer Martin Block needed to fill time between news bulletins, and played records instead of the usual live orchestra. The station shut down in 1992.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that around this time, studios were creating "subway posters" for many releases, which were 45" x 60" horizontally-shaped posters that were glued up on walls all over New York City (hence the name "subway poster"). They also made these smaller "subway" posters which measure approximately half the size of a regular "subway" poster (usually around 29" x 45"), and look like a one-sheet, only bigger, but they have information about one or more specific New York theaters then-currently showing that movie. Also note this subway poster was tri-folded only (which means there is one less vertical machine fold than usual). This means the poster has a significantly lesser number of folds than with subway posters folded in the "regular" way, which is nice! Tri-folded subway posters need to be sent in an oversized flat package, which measures roughly 13" x 32", so they cost more to send than regularly folded subway posters, especially if they are sent to non-U.S. addresses.

Condition: good to very good.
