An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Movie Paper Banner (measures 24" x 82" [61 x 208 cm]) (Learn More) All About Eve, the classic 1950 Joseph L. Mankiewicz (winner of the Best Director Academy Award for this film) New York City Broadway stage acting romantic love triangle melodrama ("It's all about women... and their men!"; produced by Darryl F. Zanuck; about a New York stage actress who gets a protege who secretly schemes to take her place, both on stage and off; winner of the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Bette Davis (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; as Margo Channing), Anne Baxter (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Eve Harrington), George Sanders (winner of the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; as Addison DeWitt), Celeste Holm (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Gary Merrill, Hugh Marlowe, Thelma Ritter (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Marilyn Monroe, Gregory Ratoff, Barbara Bates, and Walter Hampton. Note that Marilyn Monroe had a small role in this movie, early in her career, but as usual, she was noticed, and she appears on several of the posters! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have previously auctioned two examples of this paper banner, but both of those examples were in much lesser condition and had many creases and light stains throughout. This example is in much better condition than those! Note that this banner is a silkscreen printed poster with an actual black & white photo which has neatly been "tipped in" (glued to the left side of the poster). Paper banners were sometimes made in this way at that time, and it makes for a striking poster, and few people would realize that it is not printed on a single piece, unless they examine the poster closely. Note that the silkscreen portions of this poster usually pick up scuff marks far more easily than other posters of this period (this was caused by the method of silkscreen printing, and is very common on these posters, and is not considered a major defect, unless it is very noticeable or distracting). Condition: good to very good. The poster itself is in surprisingly nice condition, better than most paper banners from this time period, with only slight wear. The tipped-in image portion (the top left large photo) has vertical creases down the left of the image, mostly affecting Anne Baxter's figure, but having only slight effect on the other figures, including, of course, Marilyn Monroe. One could display this poster as it is, or one could certainly choose to have restoration performed. Please look at our super-sized image before bidding on this really cool poster!
