An Original Vintage Linenbacked Circus Poster (measures 13 3/4" x 41 1/2") (Learn More)

Seils Sterling Circus, the circa early 1930s circus poster used to advertise the Seils Sterling Circus ("'The Show of a Thousand Wonders'"; "Big 4 Ring"; "The Show of A Century"). The poster features a great stone litho artwork image of lions jumping through rings, acrobats, elephants, and more! Our quick research of this circus indicates it was in existence from 1927 to 1938, and this poster seems to surely date from the early 1930s or earlier, based on the printing and paper quality. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.

Condition: very good. The poster was mounted on a thin linen backing, and no excess linen was left around the edges. Prior to linenbacking, there were some creases in the left and right 1/3 of the poster, with some small paper loss in the top left of the red letters and in the woman behind those letters. There was paper loss in the bottom of the "R" of "CIRCUS". Other than the above defects, the poster was in pretty good condition prior to linenbacking, and while it was not a wonderful linenbacking job, it was pretty good, and the poster displays pretty well.
