Wells' The Time Machine, the classic 1960 George Pal science fiction (sci-fi) time-travel romantic adventure thriller ("You will Orbit into the fantastic future!"; "in futuristic Metrocolor"; "It smashes the time barrier... And You take the greatest adventure of your life!"; "Based on the novel by H.G. Wells") starring Rod Taylor (as H.G. Wells), Alan Young (as David Filby, and also his son James Filby), Yvette Mimieux (very young, in her second big screen role as Weena), Sebastian Cabot, Tom Helmore, and Paul Frees (as the voice of the Talking Rings). Note that anyone not familiar with the H.G. Wells novel might think that this movie adapted most of its ideas into the screenplay. But actually, the source novel is an incredibly bleak story about a dystopian future, with no romance of any kind. Screenwriter David Duncan, who had written a few 1950s B-science fiction screenplays before this, did a brilliant job completely changing H.G. Wells' ideas into an entirely different story! His screenplay was merely "inspired by" Wells' story, and he deserves far more credit for the success of this movie than he often receives! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Reynold Brown Important Added Info: Note that someone had this three-sheet framed, and the framer glued the entire poster to a piece of very large foamcore. That worked well in keeping the poster flat within the frame, but of course, it creates a real problem for shipping the poster, because it will need to be sent in an EXTREMELY large flat package. While we can make such a package, it will require that we pack this poster between four super heavy 43" x 83" boards that we have purchased for $10 each, meaning that the cost of packaging this poster alone is $40 (because of the expense of the large cardboard). VERY IMPORTANT! This poster will likely cost around $200 total to send within the U.S. via ground UPS (but of course, we will only charge the actual cost of shipping) plus the above stated $40 for the packaging materials. Please bear this shipping cost in mind before placing a bid on this poster (and it would surely cost many hundreds of dollars to send it out of the United States, so we ask that no one bid on this poster unless they can accept delivery of it within the U.S.). Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. Most of these items absolutely can only be sent in flat packages, and could not possibly be rolled into a tube. Some of them might SEEM like they could be rolled in a tube, like a half-sheet, but they can't. The reason these items are in this auction is specifically because they CAN'T be rolled (because rolling any of them would damage them, even if they somehow can be rolled). So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item when ready for shipping), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it. IN THE CASE OF EXTREMELY LARGE FLAT ITEMS, THE SHIPPING COST WILL BE VERY HIGH, SO PLEASE DO NOT BID WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT THAT ADDED SHIPPING AMOUNT, AND INCLUDE THAT AMOUNT IN WHAT YOU BID (so if you would pay $150, but the shipping is likely $100, then only bid $50).
