An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Italian Italian One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 39 1/4" [69 x 100 cm]) (Learn More) Betty Grable was an actress from the 1930s to the 1950s, often appearing in romantic musicals. Some of her movies include: Million Dollar Legs, Tin Pan Alley, Moon Over Miami, and Down Argentine Way. She is perhaps best remembered for her famous sexy legs, and one of her pin-up images, which was one of the absolute most popular ones displayed by soldiers during World War II (at one time, her legs were insured for $1,000,000 by Lloyds of London!). She was married to actor Jackie Coogan, and then later to bandleader Harry James (with whom she had two children). She passed away in 1973 at the age of 56 from lung cancer. Artist: Ercole Brini Important Added Info: Note that this is a special Italian "personality" one-sheet (which we only auctioned once before; it sold for $361), that theaters would order and hang when they showed Betty Grable movies, surely in the late 1940s, and this poster features great art of Betty Grable by Ercole Brini. Note that Italian posters from the first few years after World War II are among the most rare posters there are! Apparently, there were still major paper shortages in Italy, and few posters were printed, and most were recycled. Also note that this Italian one-sheet measures 27" x 39 1/4" [69 x 100 cm]. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had some tiny bits of surface paper loss in the bottom half of the vertical fold, and very minor wear on the other folds. It had three tears and two tiny bits of paper loss in the lower right blank border.. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking.
