Date Sold 12/10/2019Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 41" x 81" [104 x 206 cm]) (Learn More) Our American Boys in the European War, the 1916 silent World War I (WWI) Red Cross medic military documentary ("Americans working under a hot rain of shells!"; "Giving succor to the wounded day and night."). Note that the posters we have seen from this movie (one-sheets and three-sheets) have the words "Victor White Ambulance Driver" printed in a lower corner of the image, and we have seen two posters (one one-sheet and one three-sheet) that had a snipe glued over the "Victor White" that says "VICTOR TARDIEU", and we know that Victor Tardieu was a French poster artist, and therefore, either he was miscredited on the poster as Victor White, and they corrected it, or possibly Victor White was the actual ambulance driver pictured, and they also wanted to credit the artist of the poster. If anyone knows more about any of this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Artist: Victor Tardieu Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this poster, and that was 26 years ago, when it sold for $2,530! Also note that this three-sheet was printed in 3 sections designed to overlap. Condition: very good. There is a printed snipe in the bottom left of the image (see above for much more about this). There are some pinholes, tiny tears, and tiny paper loss scattered in small parts of the borders and folds, but generally, the poster has survived in pretty nice condition, especially considering it is over 100 years old!
