An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More)

The Man Who Came to Dinner, the 1942 William Keighley family relationship movie-making stage play writer romantic screwball comedy ("Warner Bros.' Happiest Hit"; "Nothing could be funnier!"; "From the Stage Play by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart"; about a famous man visiting a family who slips and falls on their sidewalk, and pretends to not be able to leave, and he terrorizes the family and changes their lives; some characters were based on members of the Algonquin Round Table) starring Bette Davis, Ann Sheridan, Monty Woolley, Jimmy Durante, Richard Travis, Billie Burke, Reginald Gardiner, Ruth Vivian, and Georgia Carroll. Note that Warner Bros. originally cast John Barrymore to play the lead role, but his advanced alcoholism caused him to have great difficulty in learning his lines, and instead they turned to Monty Woolley, who had originated the role on Broadway.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.

Condition: good to very good. There is rippling and slight discoloration throughout the poster from exposure to moisture. There is separation at the crossfolds and there is a piece of tape on the back of the left and right of the top edge but it does not appear to be there for any restoration purpose. This is the sort of poster that responds really well to professional restoration. It is likely that much or all of the rippling and discoloration can be removed through chemical means, after which the poster will look fantastic (although I think most collectors could happily display this great poster on their wall just as it is).
