He Who Gets Slapped, the 1924 Victor Sjostrom (billed as "Victor Seastrom"; he was a major Swedish director of the 1910s and 1920s, and late in his life, he turned to acting, giving memorable performances in several Ingmar Bergman movies, most notably "Wild Strawberries") silent circus clown romantic melodrama ("Victor Seastrom's production of the famous stage play by Leonid Andreyev"; about a French researcher who has his discovery stolen by a colleague, who also seduces his wife!; he is so humiliated that he not only joins the circus and becomes a clown, but his act consists of other clowns constantly slapping him, yet somehow he finds a new love in the circus) starring Lon Chaney Sr. (in the title role), Norma Shearer, John Gilbert, Tully Marshall, and Harvey Clark. Note that this was the first movie that started production under "Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer" and is also the first movie to feature the lion logo!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this window card, and the last one was 13 years ago, when it sold for $449.44! Also note that the card measures very slightly under 14" x 22" (an extremely tiny amount in each direction!) and has no left, right, or bottom blank borders, but it has NOT been trimmed (this was done at a time when MGM was experimenting with having as few borders as possible).

Condition: very good to fine. The card has tiny staining in part of the top blank border and in the lower half of the left blank border. Otherwise, it is in really excellent condition, especially considering its age, and it has never had any restoration.
