Artist: Ken Sawyer Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have only auctioned two in all our years of auctioning and the last one auctioned for $790. We have now been consigned that very same poster for this auction! Note also that this 30x40 is a silkscreen printed poster with an actual black & white photo which has neatly been "tipped in" (glued to the lower left corner of the poster). This is how almost all 30x40s were made at this time! Paper banners were also commonly made in this way at that time, and it makes for a striking poster, and few people would realize that it is not printed on a single piece, unless they examine the poster closely. Note that the silkscreen portions of this poster usually pick up scuff marks far more easily than other posters of this period (this was caused by the method of silkscreen printing, and is very common on these posters, and is not considered a major defect, unless it is very noticeable or distracting). Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It has some scuffs in the black letters of the tagline and credits. There are pinholes in the corners and tiny paper loss where pins were roughly removed. There are stains in the lower right border and in the red background opposite the end of the title. The poster was reused when the movie was re-released in 1964, and there are two re-release NSS stamps in the borders (but this is absolutely the first release poster from 1957, that was simply reused in 1964).
