An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 10 3/4" x 14" [27 x 36 cm]; 16 pages) (Learn More)

Zane Grey's Arizona Mahoney, the 1936 James P. Hogan circus romantic love triangle cowboy western ("Based upon the novel 'Stairs of Sand' by Zane Grey"; a really wacky story of a crook who holds up a stagecoach, and a circus man on his elephant wanders by, and helps the passengers who were robbed, and there are all kinds of wacky misunderstandings, and at the end, the elephant helps catch the crooks!) starring Joe Cook (in the title role as Arizona Mahoney), Robert Cummings (Bob Cummings), June Martel, Buster Crabbe (billed as "Larry Crabbe"), Marjorie Gateson, and John Miljan. Note that Joe Cook was a vaudeville juggler and performer who, in 1930, at the age of 40, was signed by Columbia to recreate one of his vaudeville routines, and he appeared in a total of 8 movies, and he had the starring role in "Rain or Shine" in 1930, and in this one, but his other six roles were in shorts.

Important Added Info: Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut!

Condition: very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook was removed from a bound volume and there is some damage down the spine (see our image). Some of the pages are coming loose, but the pressbook is otherwise in pretty good condition.
