An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

The Countess of Monte Cristo, the 1948 Frederick De Cordova romantic ice skating sports musical comedy ("A Musical Ice-Travaganza!"; "Story by Walter Reisch") starring Sonja Henie (in her final Hollywood appearance), Michael Kirby, Olga San Juan, Dorothy Hart, Arthur Treacher, and Freddie Trenkler. Note that, despite the title, this movie bears no connection to the Alexandre Dumas characters (the title refers to a brief segment at the beginning of the movie where the characters are auditioning for a "movie within a movie" named "The Countess of Monte Cristo".)

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair. The poster had small paper loss at the crossfolds and tiny tears and tiny paper loss between the top and bottom crossfolds, and minor wear on the other folds, with pinholes around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but at some point after it was backed, it acquired water stains at the left and right ends of the top and bottom folds, extending into the border and slightly into the image in all four areas. This is in both the poster and the linen, and has caused it to be rippled in those areas. I don't know if the poster can be improved without re-backing it, so bear in mind this very significant defect before placing a bid on this poster.
