What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had an oval-shaped area of paper loss at the top crossfold, with a long L-shaped tear running from it down through Hodiak's eyebrow and hair, and through the gun and hand and extending to the right border. There were also some tears and tiny paper loss in his hair and in the background above it. There were some tears and paper loss surrounding the bottom crossfold. Otherwise, the poster had some small tears and tiny bits of paper loss on the foldlines and pinholes and tears around the edges. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed under the circumstances, because the above many defects are only slightly noticeable and the poster displays pretty well, but but please read our description above and look at our super-sized image before placing a bid on this poster. Note that the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster.
