Some of his movies include: Spartacus, Dr. Strangelove, Paths of Glory, A Clockwork Orange, The Shining, 2001: A Space Odyssey (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film), and Full Metal Jacket. He passed away in 1999 at the age of 70. Important Added Info: Note that this auction is for the 1990 10" x 13 1/2" hardcover book of full-color paintings by Christiane Kubrick, who was the wife of director Stanley Kubrick. Together with the book is a letter from Stanley Kubrick on his personal stationery with his name printed at the top that he sent to a gallery that was interested in doing an edition of his wife's prints, and he was sending this book to them along with strong praise, and saying he would "call in a few days". There is also a copy of a fax that Mr. Kubrick sent to someone else, asking if he has looked at his wife's book. Obviously, these two items (the signed Kubrick letter and the copy fax) were put into the book and then forgotten! Our consignor purchased this book from a bookseller who was simply selling the book, and they clearly never looked inside of it, or they surely would have mentioned the signed letter (and asked more money for it!). Our consignor does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we feel certain it is authentic. Condition: very good. The letter was tri-folded at one time and has very minor wear.
