eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 4z020 SYLVIA SCARLETT jumbo WC '35 great art images of Katharine Hepburn with long & short hair! Date Sold 2/18/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Jumbo Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 15 1/2" x 19 3/4" [39 x 50 cm]) (Learn More) Sylvia Scarlett, the 1935 George Cukor Europe romantic smuggling embezzling crime comedy (based on the novel by Compton MacKenzie; about a father who goes to England to escape charges in France, he brings his daughter with him but disguises her as a boy and they successfully go on a crime spree with no one recognizing them until the girl meets a handsome young man and falls in love!) starring Katharine Hepburn (in the title role as Sylvia Scarlett), Cary Grant, Brian Aherne, Edmund Gwenn, Robert Adair, and Princess Natalie Paley (she was a Russian noblewoman who had a claim to being a Princess, but the Russian Revolution ended that; she married a Frenchman and appeared in a handful of French and U.S. movies; later, she moved to America and lived there until her passing in 1981). Note that as noted above, Katharine Hepburn masquerades as a boy in the early part of the movie, and being a dedicated thespian, Miss Hepburn actually had her hair cut short, because wearing a wig would have detracted from the quality of her performance! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been heavily trimmed and it now measures 15 1/2" x 19 3/4" [39 x 50 cm]. Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. If it is a size that might ordinarily be rolled in a tube (like a half-sheet), the reason it is in this auction is specifically because we feel it either CAN'T be rolled or because we feel it would be a mistake to roll it, because it might well damage the item. In the case of the few items that could be rolled, we will roll the item in a tube if the new owner insists, but only if they accept that they can't return the item if it is damaged from being rolled. So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it. Condition: fair. The poster was heavily trimmed (perhaps because it was used as a backing board in a frame). A large part of the title and Hepburn's credit is missing, and some portion of the image area, but two great images of Hepburn remain (see our image). Learn More about condition grades
