Date Sold 8/30/2007Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Campaign Book, sometimes referred to as Studio Yearbook (measures 11" x 14"; 50 pages) (Learn More) United Artists 1930-1931, the 1930 campaign book featuring United Artists movies and stars from that era. The yearbook includes mostly black and white images (with a cool art deco layout) of the 19 major upcoming United Artists films including Gloria Swanson in What a Widow, Ronald Colman in Raffles, Lottery Bride, Eddie Cantor in Whoopee, Walter Huston in D.W. Griffith's Abraham Lincoln, Eyes of the World, Du Barry Woman of Passion, Mary Pickford in Forever Yours, The Bat Whispers, Moon Madness, Charlie Chaplin in City Lights, Jean Harlow in Howard Hughes' Hell's Angels, Al Jolson, and more! Important Added Info: Note that this is one of an excellent collection of nine extremely scarce studio campaign books we are selling this week on eBay (in nine separate auctions). Even though these are books that have sold for hundreds of dollars in the past, all begin with 99 cents with no reserve on any of them! Condition: very good. The book is in pretty nice condition. The interior pages were originally glued to the hardcover binding down the spine, but they were glued after they were first stapled together with four sturdy staples down the spine. The entire interior of the book has come separated from the hardcovers, but it does NOT mean that any of the interior pages are loose, because they are stapled together. Someone could likely re-glue the interior of the book to the hardcover binding on the inside of the spine, but there is no real need to do that. The hardcovers have many scuffs and scratches in the silver and red portions, but fortunately few in the only actual printing on either cover, which is the United Artists logo. The interior pages are generally in really nice condition, with smudges on the first and last of the interior pages (which are only title pages). There are no cut outs or pages missing (campaign books are often found with missing pages, because theater owners would tear out pages to remind them to book the movie, and sometimes collectors took pages out of these books).
