An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) Buck Jones was the great cowboy western star who also was one of William Fox's top cowboy actors in the 1920s, before he switched to Columbia, where he became their leading star in the 1930s. He made scores of westerns, and early in his career he also appeared in many non-cowboy roles. When he first started making movies, he was billed as "Charles Gebhart" (which was his real name). In the middle 1910s, his billing changed to "Buck Gebhart", and it was not until early 1920 that he became "Buck Jones" (sometimes billed as either "Charles Jones" or "Charles 'Buck' Jones"). Some of his movies include: Lazybones, Empty Saddles, and The Phantom Ride. He was still making movies when he died tragically in the Coconut Grove nightclub fire in 1942. He was 50 years old. Important Added Info: Note that this was a stock glass slide that theaters could use when they were showing any Buck Jones movie! Also note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see! Condition: very good. There is some wear around the edges and someone put extra tape on the borders. Otherwise, the slide is in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
