Stetson Company, founded in 1865 after Stetson went on a gold panning expedition in Colorado. He made a rugged hat from beaver felt, and legend has it the first Stetson's first hat was bought by a cowboy for a five dollar gold piece! Stetson went on to expand and mechanize the hat-making industry, and the brand has since expanded to outer clothing, fragrances, footwear and more. Our consignor purchased this poster from a gallery that did much business with the artist, and he signed the poster personally for them. He has no certificate of authenticity, but we feel certain the autograph is genuine. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had a few creases scattered throughout the image. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. The poster was slightly roughly handled, causing creases in the top and bottom borders, but solely in the excess linen, and not in the poster itself. Learn More about condition grades
