A Vintage Autographed Limited Edition Hardcover Book (measures 5 1/2" x 8 1/4" [14 x 21 cm]; 481 pages) (Learn More)

Fannie Hurst was a playwright and author from the 1910s to the 1960s. She wrote many of the most famous and best-selling "tearjerker" melodrama novels, and many were made into movies (and some were remade by Ross Hunter decades later). Some of her works include: Imitation of Life, Back Street, The Vertical City, and Every Soul Hath Its Song. She passed away in 1968 at the age of 78.
Important Added Info: Note that this item (which is a signed limited first edition hardcover of the classic novel "Back Street", which was limited to 250 signed and numbered copies) has been personally autographed (signed) by Fannie Hurst (she signed on the page that tells about it being a limited edition and has the edition number above her signature; see our image)! Our consignor is a longtime dealer who acquired this signed item among many other purchases in his inventory, and he does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic. Also note that we have pictured the front cover, the title page, and the interior page that shows the publishing information, and one or more interior 2-page spreads.

As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.

Condition: good to very good. If the book originally had a dust jacket, it no longer has one. There is an added inscription on the signature page from a gift giver to his daughter that is dated 1943, but the book itself and the signature are from 1931.
