An Original 1968 (from the first release of this movie in France) Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked French Large Movie Poster (31x47; measures 31 1/4" x 47 1/4" [79 x 120 cm]) (Learn More)

Un Chien Andalou (released in the U.S. as "An Andalusian Dog"), the classic 1929 Luis Bunuel silent French fantasy short starring Salvador Dali, Pierre Batcheff, Simone Mareuil, Luis Bunuel, Robert Hommet, and Fano Messan. Note that this is the movie which contains one of the most disturbing images ever shown on screen, that of a man slitting a woman's eye with a straight razor (if you have ever seen it, you have not forgotten it!)
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that, although this classic short movie was made in France in 1928, it was never officially released there at that time, and there are no French posters from 1928, due to its very controversial images. Finally, in 1968, it was given a release in France, and this poster was the one created for that first French 1968 release! Also note that this is a "country of origin" poster for this French movie! Finally, note that this poster contains an unclothed woman, so we have placed a white bar over that area, for those who are bothered by such images. Of course, the actual poster does not have that white bar!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It was backed onto a thin linen with no excess. It had some slight wear down the left and right edges (see our image). Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
