An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Movie Key Book (8x11 keybook) 8" x 11" Still (Learn More) Fred MacMurray was a very successful actor from the 1920s through the 1970s. He was a star athlete at his high school, and he also played saxophone, and had his own band called "Mac's Melody Boys", where he also sang. He went to college to study music and he played with a dance band. He went to Hollywood and joined the California Collegians, a vaudeville band. In 1930, the band traveled to New York and played for Broadway shows. A Paramount agent saw him and he had a screen test, and appeared in some movies in the early 1930s, and he co-starred with Claudette Colbert in "The Gilded Lily" in 1935, which made him a star. In the late 1930s, he was a leading man in mostly romantic comedies. In the 1940s, he appeared in some great film noir movies, including "Double Indemnity". In the 1950s, he had a memorable role in "The Caine Mutiny", and in 1960, he had a major role in Billy Wilder's "The Apartment". He then made a massive career shift, starring in Walt Disney movies, and also starring in the TV sitcom "My Three Sons", which he stayed with for 12 years. He passed away in 1991 at the age of 83. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Fred MacMurray! Note that this is an original vintage still from 1936, but that MacMurray signed it in the 1970s. Also note that this key book still is on a deluxe heavyweight paper stock and has an extra 1" on the top of the still with four punch holes (where the still was kept in a binder). About the Collection this Item Comes From Note that this item (and 74 others we are auctioning this week, each in its own auction) was consigned to us by a man who was a major movie memorabilia dealer in the 1970s and 1980s. During that time, he was approached by an elderly man named Sterling H. Bond, who had collected autographs for many years (starting in the early 1930s), and who sold the dealer his entire collection. Bond had tracked down many important Hollywood celebrities and obtained autographed items (often personalized to him), and he also had autographs from celebrities who were not in the film business (including famous politicians!). The dealer was so impressed with this collection that rather than sell it item by item, he began collecting autographs himself, sending celebrities items by Registered Mail which they then autographed and returned to him! He also purchased a few autographed items from top autograph dealers of the 1970s and 1980s. Now, decades later, the dealer has consigned these autographed items to us. So all of these 75 autographed items we are auctioning were either obtained by long time collector Sterling H. Bond, or were obtained by this memorabilia dealer, and we feel certain that the autograph on this item is authentic! Note that each of the 75 items from this consignor all have this paragraph on them. Condition: good.
