eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 2a004 ANGELS WASH THEIR FACES 3.5x5.25 photo 1939 Bogart, Cagney & Garfield couldn't, Sheridan did! Date Sold 11/12/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage 3 1/2" x 5 1/4" [9 x 13 cm] Photo (Learn More) Angels Wash Their Faces, the 1939 Ray Enright juvenile delinquent teen gang melodrama sequel ("From an idea by Jonathan Finn"; the sixth entry in the series, with Ronald Reagan stepping in to the kind of role previously played by Bogart, Cagney, and Garfield) starring Ann Sheridan, The Dead End Kids (including Leo Gorcey, Huntz Hall, Billy Halop, Bernard Punsly, and Gabriel Dell), Ronald Reagan, Bonita Granville, Frankie Thomas, Margaret Hamilton, Marjorie Main, and Henry O'Neill. Note that this was technically not a sequel to either "Dead End", "Crime School", or "Angels with Dirty Faces" (the three Dead End Kids movies which preceded this one), but it has the Dead End Kids, and a very familiar plot (in this one, Ann Sheridan is Frankie Thomas' sister, and Frankie is framed by a local mobster, and DA Ronald Reagan helps prove the boy's innocence). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that in October of 2017, we auctioned a wonderful collection of 27 photos (most measured 3.5x5.25, but some measured slightly smaller) that were taken by a man who worked at a large movie theater in the late 1930s and early 1940s. He created wonderful theater fronts and homemade posters (some that were displayed outside the theater and some inside the theater), and after he finished making his displays, he would take a picture of each and then he put them in a scrapbook. Collectors rightfully bid aggressively on these photos, and all but 4 auctioned for more than $20 each, and 7 sold for $100 or more, with two selling for over $300 each! Now we are offering another 27 photos from this amazing scrapbook! We auctioned many of the best titles in the first group, but there are a number of equally interesting titles in this group. After this, there will be just a few more theater front photos left to auction from the scrapbook, so for the most part, this is the last chance to acquire these very rare to find photos of original theater fronts and local theater displays from this time period. Each of the 27 photos is in a separate auction with this paragraph on them. Condition: very good. The photo was stapled to an album page, and there are staple holes in the corners (see our images).
